10.0Robert Eugene Derose

Bob DeRose is the partner in charge of the Litigation Division of Barkan Meizlish, LLP and handles wage & hour/overtime issues pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Ohio Minimum Fair Wage Standards Act, Ohio election and union side labor matters. Mr. DeRose is a native of Western Pennsylvania and a 1988 graduate of Washington and Jefferson College with a degree in Economics. He is a 1991 graduate of the University Of Dayton School Of Law, where he was active in workers rights issues. Mr. DeRose was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1991 and the Pennsylvania bar in 2006.

Mr. DeRose is the former president of the Workers Injury Law and Advocacy Group (WILG), a national organization of lawyers based in Washington, D.C. committed exclusively to representing workers and their families. Mr. DeRose is the former president of the Ohio Association for Justice. He also is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) where he is a member of the AAJ Leaders Forum.

Mr. DeRose is a frequent lecturer and author on Workers Compensation, Fair Labor Standards Act and Medicare topics. He is an adjunct faculty member at Capital University Law School Graduate Program. Bob is a co-author of 2005-2006 Ohio Workers Compensation Law, a Practice Guide, published by the West Group. This book is a practice guide used by many of his colleagues in their Ohio Workers Compensation practices.

Mr. DeRose remains very active in workers rights issues. He has served on the executive committee of the Columbus Jobs with Justice and was previously President of the Greater Columbus Workers Rights Board. Bob has also served on the National Board of Directors for Interfaith Worker Justice based in Chicago. Mr. DeRose is an active member in the local, state and national Democratic Party and was named the 2009 Ohio Democrat of the Year by the Ohio Democratic Party for his work on 2008 Election Voter Protection Program.

Mr. DeRose has been named a Top 100 Trial Lawyer in Ohio since 2007 by the American Trial Lawyers Association and listed as an Ohio Super Lawyer by Cincinnati Magazine since 2005. Mr. DeRose is listed in the Who’s Who of American Law and was recently voted to the prestigious Melvin M. Belli Society by his peers around the country.
