He then accepted a commission in the United States Air Force as a Judge Advocate. He was assigned to RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom and Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. While at RAF Lakenheath, along with duties in the areas of contract law and employment and labor law, he represented the United States Air Force and subsequently Airmen, in non-judicial proceedings and courts-martial. While at Wright-Patterson AFB, he represented the United States Air Force in contract disputes.
He separated from the United States Air Force in March 2007, and accepted a position with a firm in Dayton, Ohio. He practiced in the areas of contract law and employment and labor law, among a multitude of other areas of civil law practice. From March 2009 through January 2011, he operated a solo practice, in which he continued his practice in the areas that he had previously practiced in both civil law and criminal law, including duties as a municipal prosecutor.
In January 2011, he accepted a position with International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 1224, in Wilmington, Ohio, where he represented the labor organization in collective bargaining and in non-disciplinary and disciplinary matters throughout the grievance process, and advised members and the labor organization on the multitude of issues that arise in a labor organization.
He accepted his position with Barkan Meizlish, LLP in February 2012. The labor organizations that he represents and advises are in a diverse number of industries that include, in the private sector, the airline industry, the trucking industry and the warehouse industry, among others, and in the public sector, federal and municipal administrative employees and firefighters, among other classifications of public employees.
He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Ohio, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, United States District Court Southern District of Ohio and the United States District Court Northern District of Ohio.
Mr. Peifer is married to Aida Montes-Peifer (nee Montes-Alanis) formerly of Mexico City, Mexico.
